European Specialist in Veterinary Microbiology

I started GenusVet as a vehicle to share my skills and experience with individuals and businesses that need support in my area of specialty. 

My career began in companion animal practice. While I enjoyed meeting and treating family pets, I was keen to explore a long-held interest in veterinary immunology and infectious disease, undertaking first a Master's degree in veterinary immunology, followed by a PhD in feline virology and immunology. I am proud to be a Founding Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Microbiology, which aims to promote the study, research, and practice of veterinary microbiology in Europe. 

I have worked in veterinary infectious disease and laboratory operations for 24 years, and across multiple sectors - higher education, commercial diagnostic laboratories, and both publicly-funded and contract research organisations. I am also PRINCE2® Foundation certified in Project Management. Such broad experience has provided me with skills in education, operational and team leadership, project and change management, health and safety management, and of course, subject matter expertise in veterinary infectious disease.
